hey guys

What a way to top the night? Just come back from nottingham to go see less than jake and drop kick murphys and got caught by a speed camera on the way home back to kings lynn way.

Not sure what road it was but it was a dual carrigeway and the left lane was lines off with cones etc as they were working on it. The speed has been temporarily reduced to 40mph. I went through it on the right hand lane doing 55mph.

Been fined before by accidentally going down a bus only road in peterborough but i didnt get any points.

how many point and fine am i looking at getting? Proper peeved off

yep flashed twice :( I've only been driving for about 9 months, take it if i get caught again bye bye driving :(

I thought cameras couldnt catch you in the far lane? Sounds stupid i know but i dont really know a lot about the cameras.

Is there any way at all i could try and get out of this?

yep, they can get you in any lane, as long as there's marked lines on the road.

head over to http://pepipoo.com/ - Jez from these forums managed to get off one speeding offence, and maybe a second.

Doesn't hurt to give it a try, but bear in mind that you penalty could be more harsh if you have to go to court.

...no? Take it on the chin, and drive sensibly for at least the rest of your initial two year period.

Everybody speeds, but if you get caught you get caught—don't try and worm out of it.

Yea but considering i learnt to drive in a small town im not really used to motorways etc.

Also im not trying to worm out of it, its just really unfair.

But thats how this whole country seemed to be heading at the moment.

Speed limit: 40mph
Your speed: 55mph

55 > 40

You were speeding, you were breaking the law... how on earth is this unfair?

Okay, you might be able to say your speed was appropriate for the conditions (although with roadworks there I doubt it was) but you made a conscious choice to break the speed limit and thus the law, and it is by no means unfair that you're paying the price for that.

If the whole country is heading to the prosecution of people who consciously break the law, we're doing pretty well I think.

There were no road works taking place, just cones

speed limit is usually 70 but been temporarily reduced to 40.

i was doing 55 in a 40 so its not as if i was going at the speed of sound.

wasnt raining and no-one else was on the road at the time.

I know its no excuse, i "broke" the law but still...... just not nice.

I must admit for the first year of driving I was aware of almost every speed limit and traffic sign going, 2 blatent poor driving mistakes could have cost you your licence everybody makes mistakes but dont try to worm out of it.

Was the signs for 40 MPH lit it up well?

nope wasn't lit up well at all, half the signs have the number 4 really badly damaged, some you couldnt even tell it was a 4.

If you are going to dispute this, take photos of the signs (all of them), also do this during the day and at night. But, as its been said, only do this if you are willing to take a harsher penalty if it doesn't go your way in court.
I found that taking the 3 points is the killer - really hikes up the insurance when you're young, but it does tend to make you be a bit cautious for the next two ears.

55 in a 40 = 1.375 faster than your allowed
which = 96.25 in a 70 (which = court apperance?)

have you actually had the fine yet?
i'v been flashed a couple of times by cameras like that and never actually got anything for it.

erm merlin stfu please. thanks :) No need to talk such crap

I'll have to wait to see if i get a letter through the post then. Lol maybe it wasnt unfair but still, i dont know where i was going with that last night.
