Over there...
Not after legal advice, but want to gauge experiences.

Caught on the M40 doing 72 in 50mph roadworks (except I've never seen anyone working!).

I'm guilty, and likely to burn in hell for eternity. But before I do, what can I expect to happen regarding my license?

I drive for a living, doing 34k a year company car, with only 3 points in the last 4 years...

6 points? Fine is sort of irrelevant really as points are precious.

Any tips?

As Howard says, i'd be surprised if you got anything other than 3 points, assuming you were definitely caught.

As for tips, well the first thing that springs to mind is "don't do it again". If your license is valuable to you, to the extent your living depends almost entirely on it, it's probably easiest to just stick to speed limits than take chances :p

Presumably you've already received the NIP? What type of camera got you: Van, GATSO, Truvelo, SPECS?

Like the others, I'd be very surprised if it's anything other than 3 points and £100 fine.

Got caught doing 59 in a 50 and ended up on a speed awareness course!

I would say as Howard has pointed out points + fine

How do you know you were caught? Have you received the NIP?

I've just had to pay £100 for 3 points, was doing 47 in a 30 downhill from a nsl road. downshifted but carried a bit to much speed and the van was sat part way down the hill.

54 in a 30

28 day ban, no retake, no points! Was way back in 2005, went to court and pleaded guilty but represented myself and came out ok. Only had my licence 6 months.

Guy before me 92 in a 70 got a ban and retake!

This is what annoys me - how random the whole thing is - I got 3 points and £60 for 46 in a 30. So why should you get £100 fine and me £60. (1 mph difference i guess but still)
