i was caught speeding 3 weeks ago was doing 34 in a 30 in my work van do u get offered the speed awareness course to avoid the 3 points or don't they do that anymore

I think it's dsicretionary and only happens on a first offence basis. As it's a company van I don't think you will - could be wrong though...

cheers it is my first driving offence. will i have to let my insurance company know now or when my insurance is up for renewal.

It depends on the area you got caught in for whether or not you'll get offered the course, so police forces dont offer it. As for the fact you got cught in a company van, that'll make no difference. Your work will get the notice and they will name you as the driver and everything will then come to you direct, this is how it happened to me when I got caught in my works van and got offered the course.

Is this definite? 34 in a 30 is a low speed treshold to get done for usually, though a mate got done for a BABY KILLING WORLD POLLUTING 32 in a 30 via a scamera scum van in Watford.

Don't different areas set their own limits, here in Worc's the speed has to be 10%+2 to get fined, i.e 3mph +2 = 35mph, 4+2 = 46mph @ 40 zone, got this info from police standing at roadside with a hand held device

"The guidelines recommend that action commences at speeds which are 10% + 2mph in excess of the speed limit (ie.35 mph in a 30mph area, 46mph in a 40mph area, etc). In this region, no action is taken by West Mercia Constabulary or the Safety Camera Partnership where speeds are below these thresholds. There are facilities in the guidelines which would cover action being taken at lower speeds where there are particularly aggravating factors, but the Safety Camera Partnership has never made use of this facility and has no plans to do so."

I very much doubt this is true, 32 in a 30?

Well buddy, i very much know its true. I saw the NIP with my own eyes. It was not a police speed gun i think, one of those scamera partnerships. When given power they tend to take pee and this is a classic example. Yes he was speeding but 2mph is really going overboard. I told him to fight it but he just took it on the chin as it was his first 3 points ever in about a decade of driving.

my manager just said that the transport part of the company rang our depot and said that van reg no mw0* *** was speeding on date at time doing 34mph

Sorry - still don't believe you.
If it was a member of the public the worst he would have got was a letter in the post.
If it was actually a policeman he would not have been stopped or reported for 32mph in a 30mph zone.

Yea i'm attention seeking  Your problem if you don't believe me mate but its true, it was a camera van and it was a NIP and he got 3 points/fine. I'm pretty sure if he fought it he might get off but they hope that people don't and this is the result. Why in the world would i make that up? I don't appreciate being called a liar, regardless if its some faceless person who i will never meet.
