Cayman S or TT RS?

I'm always a tad suspicious when reasonably long-term members of the forum who have rarely if ever posted in Motors suddenly pop in one day to casually ask about which £50,000 sports car to buy but we'll give this one the benefit of the doubt. You'd think that if they were sufficiently into cars to consider a £50k car they'd perhaps havd had enough of a passing interest to have popped in more than once or twice in the last 7 years :p

The Porsche is the best drivers car. The Audi is the best daily car. It depends what you want out of a car. I'd buy neither.

Audi quicker in straight line, Cayman quicker everywhere else

Audi marginally more practical, Cayman more prestigeous

Cayman will prob hold value better

A case of what your needs are really

To be fair, quite a number of the people I know who would spend 30k to 50K on a car, aren’t that into them and just see the badge and base it on what their acquaintances drive. So what engine has that got?… "it’s a merc" came the reply (had this conversation with someone the other day about his car)

Not really a representative lot of the general public rationale on here imo.

BMW 318d Performance Edition is clearly, therefore, the way forward :D

As much as I like the 370z its is hardly in the same class as the other 2

Spend the change on something else.

As Fox says, a non motor enthusiastic is asking what 50k sporty orientated sports car to get, I am not effort posting until things get a bit more interesting.

Nah, only scouting for opinions as my heart says TT but head nods to the Cayman.

I personally believe for around the £50k mark, these are the only 2 sensible choices (if of course looking for an expensive sports coupe)...

370z: 1) Doesn't compare technically 2) It's a Nissan.

Z4: BMW styling is lost on me to be honest. Am just not a fan.

Evora: We've had a Lotus in the family before - it broke several times, alas I wouldn't want to risk that.

The TT RS just ticks a lot of boxes:

OTT styling (so a little more exciting for want of a better word), superb engine, S-Tronic, pretty much the best interior quality around.

The Cayman:

Better drivers car, the badge.

My main concern is that it's just a lot of money for what is essentially a TT. Or is that not the right way to think about it?
