I've got an FZ and it sits outside 24/7 and it isn't scabby in the slightest. If I have any criticism it would be that it's a bit heavy, a little bit vibey higher up the rev range and the gearbox isn't the smoothest in 1st and 2nd but apart from that it's a really good bike.
I put 15k miles on a FZ6. I had to sell it before my hands fell off. Much vibration lead to numb hands often. It has a limited powerband - it absolutely flies at the higher revs (and man does it rev) but below the band its sluggish. You will find yourself block changing on motorways just to keep int he powerband.
I had no issues whatsoever with build quality - even whan riding through winter so don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Its a great bike if you keep in the high revs and can handle the buzz that comes with it.
The Hornet is more solid, more predictable and well its a little bit dull
So the question is, do you want a monster-fun-buzz-bike (FZ6) or a placid predictable and hugely reliable bike?
