Hi All, just thought i would log my progress on the restoration / street fighter project.

The bike
1989 cbr 600 f - k
93 BHP
141 MPH

The Story
My old man gave me this bike he paid £80 for it in 2011
it then sat in my garage for 2 and a half years.
I finaly got round to getting the log book in december 2013.
I had taken the bike apart to start restoring it soon after getting it.
I have a video of it when i first got it, last ran in 2006 and has not had an oil change yet.

The plan.
Paint the frame
change the fork seals
Renthal Bars
Paint Wheels
Decide on the body work and paint it black to comply with the Log book
New starter solinoid
New battery
New Brake pads front and rear
New pistons and seals for the calipers

I will most likley add to this.

The Day i got it: (video)

I would have gotten the swingarm/frame/wheels powdercoated seeing that you went to the trouble of dismantling it all,it would have lasted longer

looks good so far though

Yep, good work but also would have powder coated the frame and wheels. The finish will just last so much longer.

Would love to attempt this on my old R1 some day. Black powder coated frame and swingarm. I just don't think I would have the skills to get it back in one piece again so kudos to you mate.

thanks for the replys.
I have had bits powdercoated before, only issue i have is that the people who do it localy are really lazy and pile the powder on and end up with runs. also i wanted to try keep the frame / swing arm orignialy looking so i used pain from that time (celulose).
this is the 2nd street bike i would have done.
I did a suzuki RGV 250 back in 2007 but i didnt take any pictures. :(

any way today.

frame a and swing arm back together, shock in , engine in and trying to remember how the wireing went. ooops.

Great job, though I'm not a fan of street fighters or Renthal bars on sports bikes. There are relatively few original CBR600's of this age left so would be nice to keep it standard,

Thank you, fully understand, it is most likley going to be used on the track mainly so that means its goning to hit the deck.
I have other bikes for the road my R1 and RSV.

The bodywork was to far gone for most of it some got some on ebay so its a bit of a mess at the moment.

still on the to do list.
bolts for fairings
rear indicators - ordered
number plate
front light bulb
number plate light bulb
drill and tap snapped bolt for the seat.
new end can as the current one had rusted and made a hole.
rear brake light switch need mount ( ordered)
MOT!
get bike sprayed

Ok so today was judgment day!
It passed its MOT!!!
3 advisory's
- horn harshness
- front Tyre near legal limit
- rear wheel bearing

Il upload another picture shortly.
i am chuffed it passed as it does not look aesthetically very nice.
brake pads need wearing in.
and i need to purchase a new exhaust (borrowed the akra from my rsv) and do the advisory's above. then get it re painted. as and when i wish.
