Okay so I haven't even done my CBT yet, never mind my DAS but I am already window shopping for that first bike, I dare to dream... The model I can't seem to take my eyes off is the Honda CBR 600F's

Thing is I'm 6ft8 and am a little concerned about being too big for certain bikes... My uncle used to ride a little 125 and is 6ft5 and looked like a prat! I read on a review that the 600F's feel a little small, should I be concerned and with a budget of between £1,500 and £2,000 to spend on my first bike is there anything better I can get or should be looking out for with buying a first bike like this?

I'm 6' 3" and I wouldn't want one. It really depends what sort of riding you'll be doing, but I'd expect long distances to be pretty unpleasant.

With a max budget of £2,000 what would you recommend as an alternative?

Well I prefer the Sport's bikes to be honest but that is'nt set in stone, Im 21 with 6 years experience, and will mainly be using a bike for getting around to college/ work though really want to do long rides to places like the lake district etc

My advice would be get the DAS done then test ride some bikes. I know you are looking for something sub £2k which is a wise move IMO, but you need to try some out.

What's the plan. are you doing the DAS soon?

Is your £2k taking into account insurance, you say you have 6 years experience but in reality you have 0 years experience to an insurance company.

Should be booking my CBT in a couple of weeks and should be able to do my DAS as soon as possible straight after....

What I meant was I'm 27, 28 in June, £2,000 is my top end budget for a bike I should have about £4,000 in total but that needs to pay for everything else, tax, insurance, helmet and other gear etc...

See how you get on with the CBT before booking anything else. Some people are naturals, others (me included) need a bit of time to get the hang of it. You might decide to get a 125 and get some practice in before doing your DAS. You'll need to get your theory test out of the way first as well.

I own a cbr600f and I'm 6ft1, to be honest... I think it may well be too small for you, as would a lot of bikes :(

But my first thought of a suitable bike was the KAWASAKI VERSYS, maybe have a look at them :)

Good luck.

Being 6'8 you're gonna be a giant on a lot of bikes. Just as a reference, I'm only 5'9" and can flat foot mine and I dont exactly feel small on the bike, you may need something a bit bigger. But you never know, have a sit on one, could be fine. Possibly the greatest bike you could ever own, not biased at all. :p:D

The cbr600f is a great bike but they are a bike you sit in rather than on, with quite a low seat height. Other sports bike have a higher seat - try a ZX6R for example which you should be able to get in budget.

As mentioned the Versys would be perfect (I had one and loved it) but you'll need to up your budget to £3k as they aren't very old yet.

Just an update, I had a sit on my friends Bandit last night and that felt nice and comfortable, wider than I expected it to be though but it was my first time on a bike since I was about 8. It's a good looking Bike to be fair but I still prefer the look of the sports bikes...

He is taking me a long to Millenium Cycles in St Helens one day this week as he needs something but it's a good excuse for me to try some bikes on for size though I discovered last night that I have a massive head and will need a XXL sized helmet! lol

I sound like a boring old sod, but I'd strongly urge you to try any bike you are considering buying over a decent distance ride.

I loved my Hornet to bits until the first time I did a longish journey on it(140 mile round trip). After that I sold it as I was so uncomfortable after 50 miles.

I'm only 6'4" tall and a lot of bikes are too small for journeys over 60 miles.
probably. One of the best bikes for larger riders in a 600 flavor is the Kawasaki versys I recommend test roding one.
