Hey Guys,

So I've only been riding my CBR 125 57 (RS6) for around 6 months now and this is my second crash (not my fault this time) was casually riding when my front brakes started to come on a touch, thought nothing of it till around 2 days later where it was getting worse, took it to the garage, me uncle stripped the calliper off and put it back on, couldn't find anything wrong with it apart from some strange noise like two ball bearings bouncing against each other, took it out the next day, was fine on the way to college and then Bam, going through the middle of the town the front disk locked and the bike came out from under me =/,

This time I somehow managed to damage the left front fairing top and middle sections, which is where I come to ask the question finally!

Is it possible to fit 'Sliders' as I am told they're called to my bike? how much do they cost, are they good? should I get them or just go without?

Thanks!

What you're thinking of are crash bungs and to be honest with a 125 you have already dropped twice it's unlikely to be worth the expense to fit them.

They do work quite well for most low speed crashes where you just slide along the tarmac but even with them you will still get some damage to the bodywork.

There are several things you can get to protect the engine casing, and the fairings themselves.

What you're probably looking for are called Crash Bungs/Protectors, something like these. They basically go through the fairings and bolt to the engine. Provide a good level of protection to the fairings if you were to come off. I have them on my GSX-R, and will more than likely get them fitted on my new bike when I pick it up. R&G are a well established brand with these sorts of things.

They've saved my GSXR fairings when a van pulled out on me. I managed to avoid him enough so I wasn't knocked off, but close enough for him to hit me. I did manage to rip off his bumper though with my crash bungs.

Okay Guys, I've just replaced the clutch lever again, the left indicator again, the fairing panels aren't too bad I guess, definitely need replacing when It comes to selling it,

Those Crash protectors look pretty good for £60, Where do they fit on the bike and how do you go about doing that?

Also does anyone know where I can get a Marushin 999NX helmet or similar Marushin helmet (I like the helmet style and fit, Plus I have loads of visors for it that I don't want to get rid of), I was gonna race to George whites and grab one of there cheap Marushin helmets but they're obviously out of business for the time being =/

Thanks

The usually replace the engine mounting bolts on either side of your bike. Depending on the model of bike you have, you may have to drill though your fairings on one or both sides to attach them. I had to do that with my GSXR on the left hand fairing. It's a pretty easy task. The R&G website should have instructions on that link for your specific bike.

Its not really that bad, It is cracked at the bottom where it touches the middle panel, probably because of the indicator snapping off and the bike landing on the indicator.

=/

seriously - learn some basic maintenence. i.e. if somethings not working how it should do - get it sorted ASAP if it's dangerous!

take the money and buy yourself some common sense instead of sliders...

Get it fixed then find someone who knows motorbikes properly to show you!

Ball bearings on a front wheel? Most likely wheel beaings have failed which would mean it wasn't the front brake which locked up but the wheel bearing collapsing and locking the front wheel up. Sounds more likely than the front brake....

You're fixing the bike without even finding out what the original problem was.

Glad someone said it. A binding caliper wouldn't suddenly lock the wheel with no warning. They drag more and more as everything heats up, and on a 125 the drop in performance would be very noticeable (as would the smoking pads and blue disc).

Should be on the bike somewhere the colour codes, Under the seat I think, They come sprayed or you gotta go get them sprayed
?

They come sprayed and stickered up, thats why its best to find out exactly which one it is.

Agreed on this point too, get it fixed properly before you bother putting any new fairings on it otherwise its likely to just happen again. A bikes brakes dont just lock on for no reason. It's easy enough to do yourself. The rear brake on mine was sticking last year so I decided to take it upon myself to fix it rather than put it in a garage. I got a Haynes manual and watched a few vids on youtube etc of people overhauling their brake calipers until I felt confident enough to do it myself. I did it, replaced the brake pads at the same time and decided to do the front one too. I've replaced the fork seals since and various other bits as well.

I won't touch the engine myself, other than changing oil, spark plug etc. But then i've got my dad to run too if I have any trouble with that.

Somethings not adding up is it  Mine didnt get so bad as the disc turning blue and I could feel the difference. Id say theres more to it than a sticky caliper.
