Completed my CBT today which is also the first time I have riden ever too.
It was good fun and I enjoyed the day but the first 20 minutes or so weren't great whilst I learnt how to control the bike and ease on and off the throttle etc. My biggest problems seemed to be looking down at the cones as opposed to where I wanted to go and other slow speed maneuvers I struggled with and a very jumpy bike in first gear didn't help matters!
An hour or two in and I felt much more confident, I had kicked over a few cones though I had begun to relax and enjoy myself. We of course had mostly teenagers all with their hands in their pants like they had lice and attitudes very much like mine when I was 16/17. They were on peds as opposed to geared 125's so it was easier and more boring for them.
The road ride I really enjoyed my instructor, who hadn't been training with us during the day, was impressed that I hadn't ridden before. There were a few small errors on one occasion when I was following I let the clutch out at a junction as I was turning and crossed over to the other side of the road but on the whole it was quite a tidy ride and I enjoyed the sense of freedom and being on two wheels
DAS to come in the near future!
Edit: Speed bumps hurt your balls and I never realised how poor the majority of the roads are as you don't pay much attention to them when you're in a car!
