CCC BSOD

I've just got hold of 4870 to replace a 8800GTX. Problem is CCC is giving me a BSOD. I'm using Vista64 and can install the drivers and play games without issue using ATI tool to configure my settings. However if I install CCC my system will go straight to BSOD on reboot as soon as CCC starts loading.

I've googled the problem and it seems it's not unknown. Has anyone here come across this issue?

Have you made sure you have cleaned out all the nvidia drivers?.

Went down that route with Driver cleaner and Driver sweeper, still gave me the same result. So took the drastic action of wiping the disk and re installing Vista.
Still doing the same thing, installs OK. Then reboot, Vista loads then as soon as the ATI services start, BSOD. System runs well without CCC, using ATT, but it niggles me that this thing is going on.

That's good to hear.

It might be a faulty card, but i don't see how since ATi tool works fine. If you get the BSOD again then i would just take the card back and get a new one.

I have just done that with my new card. I was getting the BSOD with the dreaded atikmdag.sys error. Hopefully this will resolve the issue. Otherwise its an RMA

I have sent mine back, and I expect they are testing the card themselves. I just hope it does the same to them as it has done for me???

Don't bet on it.. My 2nd 4870x2 card is displaying this problem ;

Without CCC and running Rivatuner all is fine...

Just use ATi Tray Tools instead of the CCC.

Very strange problem with CCC in vista especially on a clean install, I can only think It might be a dotnet problem

Well I spoke too soon, I'm getting texture problems, certain shades of yellow showing as Lilac for example. Plus it bothers me that i can't get any official Catalyst to work. Tried this card in an XP box which blue screened on first reboot after installing 8.9's.
Going to RMA it now, hopefully I'll get a replacement that works.

The CCC thing maybe down to the monitoring of the board. The new beta's has a reworked monitoring suite.

I'm also giving my PC a full test of memory, CPU, motherboard etc to see if there is a problem there. It was working flawlessly with an 8800GTX but you never know!

Not update as of yet. OcUK must be really busy in the RMA department, as they have had the card a week now, and no one has looked at it

Ive found my memory is faulty. Wouldnt error in memtest but errors in prime95 blend test and Ive swapped it with someone elses and no more errors in prime95 or in games. Going to RMA this.
