CCC v Time Machine

Does anyone use CCC to backup in preference to Time Machine? I find Time Machine a little confusing.

I’ve used Time Machine for years and never had a single issue, even when using it to do partial or full restores.

It’s been 6 Prime Ministers since I used Time Machine (or a Mac), but it ran flawlessly for a decade when I did.

The actual backup is on a NAS and I found it complicated when I tried recovering a file recently.

I have both but only the Mac is included in the TM backup. I think I’ll have to start again, and include my 8tb external and 1tb NVME, that I use for apps and working on editing videos.

Lesson learnt. I deleted a video file that I can’t get back from the 8tb and NAS.

I’ve just had AI calculate the space needed on my NAS. 18 to 27 tb. That would fill my entire raid 5 NAS.

I’ll have to continue my present method. MAC to TM the rest with CCC. I will just have to be more careful deleting stuff.
