Hi people.

Since for as long as I can remeber, I have alwasy avoided the CCC, becuase I hate making things far too complecated, and just like the fact I can install the display driver and job done.

However two months back I purchased a 5870.... and was wondering if Im holding back performance by not using the ccc and the catalyst AI?

All games run fun however..... no problems....

I have always installed the CCC as I like to adjust the fan spead and check my temps etc and mess around in the other settings and check driver info etc.:)

+1
What I really want to know is if the x-fire profiles work without CCC installed.

This is one aspect I didnt like when ATI/AMD split the profiles off from the CCC.

They didnt tell anyone how things worked.

As far as I understand, (but I may just be spreading misinformation) the profiles arent linked to the ccc.

Also on Rage3d, they rekon even single card configs should install the application profiles......

I have the profiles installed along with the display drivers, and I havent seen any adverse effects, so why not install them....

I'm with the OP here.

Only install the video drivers and that's it, the rest of the package including CCC feels like add on crap that i'll never use. MSi Afterburner is a far superior tool than CCC in my opinion and it's weird when I see a load of threads regarding various ATi crashes and CCC, yet i'm running on Windows XP x64 Bit and i've had no problems whatsoever.

You're not really getting the most out of your card if you don't install the CCC since you can't change any of the settings, and/or force stuff like AA/AF, or change any of the settings relating to video playback.

There are no problems associated with having CCC installed.

I think my question referred to the catalyst ai. Not having installed the CCC, an I missing out on any performance fromthe catalyst ai?

Or is that just for crossfire setups?
