Evening,

Trying to figure out the 'best' way to get the CCNA.

Is it 'best' to do ICND1 and ICND2 or just the 1 CCNA exam?
For someone who hasn't done it or any other external examination before I would think the ICND route would be best, but it just costs more. Though you get the CCENT from ICND1 and I've heard ICND2/CCNA ideally you need real world experience, so having the CCENT is a start while I try and gain that experience.

Thoughts :D?
Thanks! /back to writing about different types of memory =(

From what I read, the CCNA composite exam is better for people who are recertifying.

Of course, that doesn't mean you can't go ahead and do it if you want to as there are people who pass it first time etc.

Personally, I've taken ICND1 and got my CCENT. Thought this way I can get a better grasp of the material of each curriculum rather than cram it all and hope for the best.

I actually just took my ICND1 exam last week, I decided to go for the 2 exam route as it is the same price as going for the single exam and from what I've read (such as from the CBT Nuggets videos) the CCNA exam is more of a race against the clock than going for 2 individual exams.

Neither the 2 exam route or the 1 exam route to CCNA require real world experience, both can be done with decent learning from books and things like CBT Nuggets.

OK thanks :) Just had a quick look and each ICNDx exam is 85 each so not mich. Thought it was a lot more! Had an email from Cisco which was like £500! But i just realised that included all their learning materials.
Still need to check out CBT Nugets, read the trainer has a CCIE so he must know what he's talking about :p
Looked on Vue as well and there is a exam centre 2-3 miles away :)

I took the two exam route and it was a lot easier to get the material down for the exam and then move on the next one once its done. The ICND1 (CCENT) is basically all the theory side of things and the ICND2 is all the practical bits (with some theory thrown in).

Just keep labbing up and follow the labs on the video's. Would be a good idea to grab packet tracer to simulate and play around :)

I went with the single exam route, almost 4 years ago now though. Didn't find it too bad.
