Got a manual CCT from eBay 163646537384 as it's been rattling for a while now. Been years since I've replaced one (auto CCT on my race bikes) - any tips on doing it?
Assuming it's just a case of side panel off, inspection cover off and set crank to TDC, undo bolt on auto CCT, lock it with key, undo 2 bolts, set manual CCT to roughly same length and reinsert with new gasket. Start, adjust until quiet, Rev it a little to hear anything on overrun, adjust if necessary and put back together.
Can't recall how much space you have as I had race fairings which were 30s on and off job lol.
Bike is a '99 F4.
Cheers.

Changed the oil and as I was putting panel back on noticed other side inside was loose. It might have been flapping in the wind sound like a rattle as it was from near the CCT location. Ran it since and no noise other than the shim noise.

Doh lol.

Good stuff. Your changing instructions sound spot on. My Mt09 is in for a CCT today actually, didn't want to put the manual one on as I'm swapping it soon and don't trust myself to change it right!

Reread that.

In case I wasn't clear - didn't change the CCT, just changed the oil. Running Putoline now and the CCT noise disappeared... Lol
