Hi there.

A friend of mine wants to be able to watch his shop's CCTV whilst at home on his laptop.

I've looked at sling boxes etc.

Are there any other products out there that could assist my friend? The shop has a broadband connection.

Thanks.

What sort of system is it pc or pvr based?

Pc should have a viewer prog and/or html viewer.

PVR means he needs to buy a video server (about £130 i think) and plug it into the port on the back, then into the router.

Needs the forwarding setup too. (unless your lazy like me and put the cctv in the DMZ)

The output from the dvr will be a single composite signal (basically you'd need to double up the output to the monitor), if the slingbox can handle that it'll be ok, but you won't have any control over the dvr from a remote location.

IE if you have the monitor split into 9 pictures, you'll get that 9 way image at the other end, whereas using a video server you can select which image to view and also playback older recordings on the machine.

On the other hand, you could set the pvr to output each channel on fullscreen on a 5 second rotation, meaning you could use the slingbox (if it's up to it)

ps, never used a slingbox and i have no idea what they're capable of.
