CD and DVD Drive Not showing up

I seem to be getting a problem with my CD and DVD drive not being detected in MY COMPUTER. They will appear after a reboot but even then it is usually only one of them.

What could cause this problem.

Assuming they are both on the same cable, check the jumper settings. You could also try another cable, your cable maybe defective.

after testing as above

check motherboard/chipset drivers.

I have seen half a dozenor so PCs that haveall of a sudden lost their CD / DVD Drives?

Looking into the Device Manager, I see that they are there, but the drivers have not been installed or there isa problem ( NO WAY? )

Reinstalling Drivers does nothing!

I have accepted that its some infection that could not be killed off, and an FnR does the trick.

Also, when this has happened, the USB Also went south too, so is your USB ok?
