Hi, i had this problem a while ago but fixed it but now its come back.

The problem is the following:
I can't seem to burn anything onto recordable disks. Windows detects i've put in a CD-R (indicated on the drive icon in My Computer) but it won't let me do anything with the disc. If i copy files onto the drive to writing it then asks me to put in a CD even though its in there! Oddly though i can burn music CDs through napster so im not sure what is going on. When i put in a blank CD it sort of reads it (but doesn't spin much) then just stops all activity.

I originally tried fixing it by: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316529/en-us
Which worked but now no longer fixes it.

So what should i do? I can read everything fine, just can't burn normal CDs which is a pain!

This is my drive: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CD-053-LG&groupid=701&catid=10&subcat=185
And i have the ASUS P5B motherboard. I know that the drive connects through the JMicron controller, could this be causing problems? Maybe i should switch to an SATA drive?

I don't know if this will give you any important info. I find it odd that it is called a SCSI device and that it doesn't say Recordable device or something in the device name:

Intervideo Disc Master doesn't work. Just installed Nero and it burns stuff onto it, and napster does it too.

Odd how windows doesn't do it, nor does Disc Master.
