CD Drive Wont work

Ive got a cd/dvdrom drive here that wont work....


the os is vista, it sees the cd/dvdrom it can eject the tray, it reinstalls the drive if uninstalled.

however I was able to install office 2007 before (roughly 3 months ago) now it just doesn't recognise any disk. Its sata Im assuming (as im doing this remotely)

oh and its a brand new machine too, well 5 months old I cant see why it would be broken this quickly

Any Ideas ?

Doing it remotley is a pain as I would suggest seeing if you can boot from a DVD, this will indicate if it is a hardware problem or a software problem in Windows.

Sometimes things do just break though.

some one tried a bootable cd nothing... its got returned .. apparently a typical fault with that model
