CD/DVD problem with DS3

I have recently built a new computer using the Gigabyte 965P DS3 and am having problems with the IDE connection to my CD and DVD writers (Samsung and Sony respectively).
Being new here be understanding if I make a faux pas!
There seems to be no way to congiure the IDE connection through the options in the BIOS.
At present the drives seem to be recognised, but the Samsung cannot identify a CD R when explored in Windows, but I can write to it using "burnatonce"! The DVD RW will both read and write, and recognises disks correctly! However the writing proces seems to be very slow! Copy on the fly from the DVD writer to the CD R took 24 min for an audio CD.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Will this also enable my CD/DVD writers in Windows? Media player doesn't recognise either as a wrting device, although I can read, and copy from either!
Should I update BIOS to latest (F7), and if so - in small steps?

I'm not sure if it will solve all your problems. But it's worth a shot.

And you can go straight to the F7 BIOS without worrying about the ones in between.

Try this:

Un-plug your DVD Drive and boot into Windows.

Add/Remove programs and remove' 'Gigabyte Raid Driver'

Reboot...

When Windows loads again - You'll see new hardware found etc... 'IDE Channel... blah blah' - This will install itself using built in XP drivers.

Then shut down - Plug in your DVD Drive again... and boot up!

IDE support on DS3

Tried all that, still no further ahead. Now have two DVD rewriters and problems continue. Older Sony DRU 510AK and new Pioneer 111D.
Should I set the newer drive as master and the older as slave? Maybe they would be seen correctly then?

BIOS updated to F7, and no problems there. Could some of this be a result of DRM?
