CD not playing with anything?

I bought an audio CD yesterday and have tried popping it into my computer. However nothing appears to play the songs?

Winamp just starts a few seconds of the first song - and then skips through the entire album in seconds. VLC appears to go further, but I lose all control after the first fourty seconds or so. Windows Media Player doesn't work, neither does the blank free version of it.

I have just tried it in my hi-fi CD player and all appears well.

Why is this? Has this stupid hum buggeration of a CD got so much copy protection that the software just refuses to play it?

try holding left shift (stops autoplay) when putting it in

or install anydvd and use the audiocd protection removal option

they're so gay

Cheers for the suggestion bledd, this is ridiculous. I can't believe that I'm unable to play it in my computer. Is there a new copy protection doodah recently? Because none of my other CD's do not play.

anydvd is just a decryption driver that runs in the background, you then use whatever player/ripper you want as if it was a non encrypted disc

it decrypts on the fly with truly un-noticable cpu usage :)

awesome software

there's a 30 day trial for it too
