Hello

Firstly my car is a Fiat Punto MK2 2000

I brought a bog standard ALBA CD player from argos for £14 (Discount + £5 gift card i got given made it uber cheap and the bonus of working there to return it if its crap)

I went to fit it today which is easy enough apart from one thing

I have this block http://i.imgur.com/UImw7WA.jpg which goes into the top part of the radio here http://i.imgur.com/2Nv72bX.jpg

So i thought id just ignore it and install the ALBA, the CD player its self works perfectly fine apart from on my dashboard battery indicator is lit up when the engine is off as well as the handbrake!

Once the engine is started the battery goes off and the handbrake comes off as the handbrake comes off, once the engine is off the battery comes back on

So obviously what ever that little block is effects the battery and somehow the handbrake!

Does anyone have any idea on how to connect that to the existing wiring loom to stop the battery and handbrake from lighting up

If you need any more pictures let me know

Cheers

John

This problem is caused by having the earth wire in the wrong place. I expect it is joined into a wire in the loom which just happens to be for the lights you mentioned. The easy fix is to find the earth wire from the set (usually black, but just check) and put it straight to the chassis somewhere.

Okay cool, I shall try that and if that don't work ill buy a new harness adapter as I assume that jiggles the cables around to different location on the radio

Everywhere that I have searched has no answer to what the multicolored plug is and what it does :(
