Do people still buy these?

There is a really nice player on eBay that I am eyeing up, problem is I only buy like 2 CDs a year but I wanted this player a decade ago and since discontinued (albeit newer versions are out).

That's up to you. I use mine loads, but then it sounds better than my SB Touch and I would say I spend around £50-£80 a month on cd's so I make use of it a lot.

1) What do you use now for playing music?
2) Can that play cd's?
3) How do you listen to the cd's you already own?
3) Would you use a cd player enough to justify the purchase?

Having a SBT has drastically reduced my CD expenditure. I retain a CD player because it sounds miles better. If I was starting from scratch I probably wouldn't bother making a CD collection or buying a CD player and concentrate on improving streamed music quality from spotify and other downloaded tracks. If you've got a substantial CD collection and want to enjoy it then go for the CD player.

Which one is it?

If you have a CD collection great get one..... Also depends on how you want to buy music.

Personally I still buy my music on CD, they get put in the PC, ripped to FLAC, stored on the NAS and then the disc may never be played again.... Still think it's the best way to buy new music.... I'll not pay the same price for a lossy download of inferior quality.

The CD gives me the best quality short of finding a 24bit file to download, a physical emergency backup, the chance to lend it or play elsewhere on a CDP.

So if want discs using a CDP is fine, which will sound better when compared to lossy downloads. But no better or worse against CD rips or higher on a good system.

Which player are looking to ? ....... Would a better streamer be an option ?

I had a modest cd collection and the CD player I was after is the musical fidelity x-ray, predominantly wanted it to go with my X-A2 really as I already have Marantz CD6000 ki sig.

I put a bid in at £306 since they normally go for round £250, this one is new and it went for £370! I don't want it that much lol
