CD serial key already entered...

Slightly strange occurance today!

I installed Mass efffect from the DVD like I have countless times before (i'm on my second copy as I used all five activations previously and I usually remember to deactive it before uninstalling- goes to show how much I've played it

) but today for the first time the "enter CD key" boxes were already filled in... with a different, but valid, CD key than the one provided in the packaging.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Only time I've ever know this to happen to me is when I've copied my CD key to the clipboard and then ran the installer and it seems to read the clipboard and fill the key in automatically. Seen a couple of Steam games do this also when they give you a key to copy when you launch the game. Other than that, not sure.

Funny I have never had that happen I have an original copy and have have installed way more then 5 times plus I never deactivate anything

Sorry, a bit off topic but surely you could have just got them to rescind activations, needing to buy another copy is absolutely not on.

It was a fiver in Game several years ago, it would cost me much more in time to go through EA CS duldrums to revoke the activations.

But yes I'm glad we got over that phase of DRM.
