I have just bought my Optoma hd600x!

Now i am looking for a compatible mount. The optoma website only shows their universal mounts compatible with the HD600x-LV and doesnt list the 600x.

Does anyone know if the newer HD600x-LV has the same mounting holes on the projector as the HD600x, therefore making it compatible?

Can anyone recommend any sturdy mounts that tilt vertically?

I am trying to avoid plastic mounts since projectors cost a pretty penny and an extra couple of quid could save its life one day!

I've used all sorts of mounts. The dedicated ones are great because there's no faffing around. They just bolt straight on to the projector.

Universal mounts range from decent to atrocious. It's not cost though, but overcomplicated design that makes the biggest difference. As an example, I specified and supplied one that looked like this for a system move involving an Infocus Screenplay projector.

The base of a projector is rarely flat. There's the odd lump and bump around feet, vents, lamp door, air filter etc. I used some spacers and longer screws to work around those obstructions. Once attached and levelled up it worked really well. I found the long slot really handy for fine tuning projector position. It's not as good as lens shift of course. But for a projector with a fixed lens then the extra axis of adjustment is really useful. The bracket is all metal.

By contrast, I installed an Optoma a couple of months ago where the client supplied their own bracket. I won't name and shame the manufacturer because it's the only time I've used one of their mounts. All I'll say is that what should have been a 20 minute job assembling and attaching the bracket turned in to over an hour faffing around with it's various extension arms, screws and attachments. Jack of all trades, master of none.

Unfortunately there is a slight incline to the ceiling of the room, being able to tilt will sort this out.

Do you know if mounts that are compatible with the 600x-lv are also compatible with the 600x?

The ceiling incline isn't a problem. The bracket can tilt the body of the projector to compensate.

As I tried to say re: compatibility. All universals are, by their nature, a compromise. So expecting a perfect fit out of the box isn't realistic. However, the design of a universal means that with a little cajoling and some additional screws and spacers then the probability of it fitting is very high. The layout of the fixing points on the 600x and 600x-LV are identical. It doesn't look like a difficult fit.

I have ordered that exact mount. Hopefully my limited DIY skills will be enough to get the job done.

Thanks for the help

Now i have the projector sorted, the speakers, the mounts and now all i need is the home cinema room...
