got one coming tomorrow with Gigabyte G31m-es2l and a 2GB stick Micron DDR2, PC2-6400 (800) i want to just hit 3Ghz off it with standard heat sink and cooler, can anyone recommend best way to do this? Can't remember last time i tried to over clock a CPU! lol, thanks

you'll need to drop the ram divider to 1-1, then raise the fsb and voltage. do it in small increments and test with prime 95 or similar, keep your eye on your temps use core temp for example until you have a stable oc. hope this helps.

thanks guys, i have PC built now, its only for Photoshop, movies internet at the moment so is fast enough as standard, would like to get upto 3Ghz though with stick cooler, have with Gigabyte G31m-es2l, is there a guide anywhere on what settings to change as don't want to add voltage etc, thanks

You just need to increase the front side bus. On the Gigabyte BIOS you may need to press Ctrl + F1 to get the extra menu to appear first.

The stock FSB is 200, so you only need to go to 240 to get 3GHz. It should go a fair bit more than that.
