Will the Celeron G540 be able to playback 1080P over HDMI without the use of a gpu.

At the moment I'm running it with a 5450 but trying to get it down to a M-ITX case so need as small as possible really.

I know the raspberry Pi can do 1080 so this should shouldn't it?

It should be fine but maybe a better option is the AMD A4-5300 which is similar in price and has far better onboard graphics capability.

I've already got the cpu its running with a 5450 atm in a mini atx case I want to downsize it to a M-ITX case.

Generally to do this I'm going to need to drop the GPU.

Was just wondering if any 1 was running a g540 without a gpu as a HTPC

Ha okay well in that case you should be okay but if it doesnt perform as good as you hoped then you could always pop in a Pentium G630 which will definitely be good enough and only costs a little bit more.

There are mini itx cases that allow the use of a single slot gpu, in fact most of them. so you have the option of retaining a dedicated gpu.

I have found 1 that will allow any gpu now the coolermaster 120.

So might keep the gpu or upgrade it so that it can play a few games as well.

It will run 1080p fine. The issue is that it can't run movies with their desired framerate: [email protected]

But most people don't actually notice the frame skip when it has to sync with the audio.

Try it and see what you think (before you downsize), but as long as you have the most recent intel drivers I doubt you will notice it.
