Hey guys, basically at the moment I'm running a P4 2.0ghz, 512mb RAM machine, and am looking to get a laptop. Everything I want to do at the moment on my PC (internet, music, word processing, Java, C++ and web programming) I can do, so it's really an issue of having the portability of a laptop.

I've not got much to spend, so I'm looking at some laptops with a Celeron-M processor. What I want to know is how this compares to my current processor. Like I say, I can do everything I want on my desktop at the moment, so if the performence is about the same, I'm not too bothered. So is a Celeron-M processor quicker, slower or about the same?

Thanks in advance.

Prolly wipe the floor with that 2.4. The Celeron M is a 1mb L2 (theres 512k versions too based on Banias i think so watch out) version of the Pentium M, so its no slouch and prolly clock for clock on par or even better than the Athlon XPs and better than the PIVs for sure. The battery life is'nt as good as a Pentium M as its not got the deep sleep enabling Speedstep-Unit.
