Ok,

I've made the decision to by myself a Gen6 Celica GT :)

I'm gonna try and pick up a post '96 model with the slight facelift.

Any recomendations on what i should be looking out for, or avoiding?

I've done a fair bit of research but i'm scared i may have missed out something important!

Thanks,

Gil.

Thanks for the reply.

How much are we talking for the clutch and aerial?

One thing i was wondering;

I did a tyre search on a few sites and they decided that the GT tyres needed to have a Z rating. Surely a V rating would be ok? Z rated tyres are very expensive!

What do you have on your GT?

Very nice indeed.

I think i will be going for a black one, unless i find another colour that is too good not to buy.

Thanks for your help Cyborg. Much appreciated.

Yes, the GT4 is a lot more expensive. Everything costs more, brakes, suspension, clutch etc. Plus you'll struggle to get much over 20mpg from a GT4. That and the majority of GT4s are imports which makes insurance a lot more than a GT

What he said!

Especially the super strut, costs over a grand to get replaced and needs doing every 60-80k apparently.

Insurance is something for me to consider also. Insurance cost for the GT4 would be too much for me to cope with.

The GT has 168 bhp @ 7000 rpm, 137 lbft @ 4800 rpm. Does 0-60 in 7.9sec with a top speed of 137mph - which will do me just fine i think :)

I'm actively looking for one now, so i should have one in a few weeks if something decent turns up.

Unless anyone comes up with a better idea? :p

Right, final decision time!

Celica GT 95/96/97 reg

or Pug 406 Coupe 98/99/2000 reg

I'm willing to spend £1.8k max!

Celica GT, more powerful engine. More reliable, more aggressive looks but for my price range would have to be an older Gen6 model.

Pug Coupe, pretty average 2.0 compared to the GT, looks cleaner/newer than the GT. Would be able to pick up a newer model for the money.

What would you guys go for? And why?

Cheers,

Gil.

Just bought myself the GT :)

£1500 100k UK spec '96

Slightly modified. Lowered, (minimalist) sideskirt bodykit and induction kit. Running on after market momo alloys also.

New clutch. Fresh MOT. Took it for a test drive and it pulls like a nutter.

Happy days :)
