Cellfactor: Revolution - Free DL

Got some screens - uploading now.

Looks pretty nice, but no options for AA/AF. Though that's probably not such a bad thing as with it my frame rate would probably be single digits.

Edit:

Done.

1920x1200 - Full Detail.

Cheers for the screens! ;)

Can't say it looks that much fun. Or am I wrong? Just seems to be a way to knock boxes over. Oooohhhh fun! lol.

Waste of 800MB+ - really crap game and boring. Also shoddy performance...

Yeah, it looks alright, but performance is awful and it's cack.

Just a (hopeless) ad for PhysX really.

Well they gave the game away for free..maybe they can also give away these physics boards for free, not like they've been selling well at all. :o

I really don't see these things catching on at all, especially with multiple core cpu's which can probably handle anything these cards do with ease.

It’s been proven time and time again CPU’s cannot handle high end physics. CPU’s cannot do real cloth or 3d liquids among other effects at fast speeds.
Muti core CPU’s still provide far less physics power then 1 PPU.

Let me guess you both don’t have PPU’s? Is it really surprising performance is bad when you’re using software mode over hardware?

Well, with a X6800, 680i board, 4gb ram and an 8800GTX at 1900x1200 I was getting a single digit frame rate, same at 1600x1200. I created a sli profile and got an semi-acceptable frame rate at 1600x1200.

The bots were too good for me, frustratingly so and to be honest it's a waste of time if they think people will buy a physx card just because it plays so bad without one.

It's a really hard sell for them, on one hand they have to show that the card is so much better than playing without it, yet to do that you need to have the card, a real catch22.

Crap game/tech demo for PPU's.

The Physics I saw without the PPU were fine I can't say I want any better or care for any better than what I had without PPU.

PPU = piece of crap, case closed.

It's more surprising the physics in the game "need" a PPU, they are not that impressive at all.

“It's more surprising the physics in the game "need" a PPU, they are not that impressive at all.”
That why don’t you show a game with as good physics as what you get with a PPU. Have you even seen the game run with a PPU? I bet you haven’t which makes your comments about not being impressive invalid and possibly wrong.

“PPU = piece of crap, case closed.”
When your getting up to a 30% FPS boost with extra effects its not crap, case closed.

Gets a big meh from me. Havok still produces better physics in my opinion. You could probably pull the same thing off in hl2 if/when Valve introduce cloth and liquid physics (liquid basically confirmed from the leaked Particle Benchmark).

According to YouTube, I have seen it with the PPU on.

Yeah sure.

p.s. For the love of god use the quote button.

That’s strange as there are no videos on youtube yet. All there are is the old betas. I just did a quick search now so if I missed it please post it. That and the old beta video don’t show the new physics.

You can be a sarcastic as you want but I can prove it.

Saying the PPU is useless case closed is clearly BS when people are getting performance’s boosts. Fine if you think the PPU is mostly useless due to lack of game support but don’t go around saying its completely useless.

EDIT: New 7.05.05 drivers out.

But thats not Cellfactor. The performance different is minimal at best. Look at the performance for GRAW if your comparing other games:

Yes there is a difference. But for a few frames extra its hardly worth the £120+ price tag.

“Look at the performance for GRAW if your comparing other games:”
GRAW is an extremely bad example it had physics bolted on last min in a patch, has tons of problems due to Havok physics and those benchmarks are from before a major performance bug was fixed.

GRAW was the very first PPU game and all the games since GRAW have been tons better and faster. It’s not fair to ignore every other PPU games and just focus on the first and worst of the PPU games.
