Heres how to get Cell factor working without a PhysX card. (taken from tomshardware forum)

So the CellFactor demo requires us to go out and buy a PhysX card, right?
WRONG!

Download the demo from here -
http://ageia.com/physx_in_action/cellfactor.html

(make sure you install the drivers so the cellfactor PhysX driver appear in the folder on program files)

Edit the shortcut (right click it, choose properties, go to shortcut and then target) by adding "EnablePhysX=false" at the end. This is case sensitive.

The CellFactor High Graphics shortcut target should read:

"X:Cellfactor DemoSystemGameCellFactor.exe" FullScreen=true FullScreenWidth=1024 FullScreenHeight=768 HDREnabled=true DropShadows=true MaxLowRezDropShadows=20 MaxHighRezDropShadows=4 StaticShadow=true EnablePhysX=false

Note that the X is the drive you installed it on, typically "C".

The CellFactor Low Graphics shortcut target should read:

"X:Cellfactor DemoSystemGameCellFactor.exe" FullScreen=true FullScreenWidth=800 FullScreenHeight=600 AnisotropyLevel=1 HDREnabled=false DropShadows=false MaxLowRezDropShadows=0 MaxHighRezDropShadows=0 StaticShadow=false EnablePhysX=false

Again, the X is the drive letter of the drive you installed it on.

I thought this was a cool thing to pass on to everyone. I've tested it and the game actually runs well on my system. It's also cool to know that you DO NOT need a PhysX processor, whereas Ageia tells us that we do.

Heres some some screenshots of it working and some of windows media player because im not posting a 95mb uncompressed movie and dont know how to convert it

At first it crashed at the end of the loading screen, so put the textures to 0 first then change them once in game. Theres part of the level where it drops to 1fps for some reason, no idea why because theres nothing there i can see

So much for the 'only with PhysX' bull****!

err, this was posted quite some time ago??? was also posted in g-cards forum too

lol i remember when i tried it. even with physics turned off it absolutly raped my computer from the front, back and then the side just for fun :D

tbh where it says
FullScreen=true FullScreenWidth=1024 FullScreenHeight=768 HDREnabled=true DropShadows=true MaxLowRezDropShadows=20 MaxHighRezDropShadows=4 StaticShadow=true EnablePhysX=false

you're best off setting the FullScreenWidth and FullScreenHeight to your correct res, or it will look crap.

sorry if i didnt see it before. i turned off the fluid and cloth effects and it play great now, even is playable in 1024x768 using those high settings. I managed 10 kills

Does seem a bit of a gimmick though and the car is crap to drive, also i cant find what shoot is in it.

so much for needing a physics card

yeah, blowing things up, making those things move around, no lag on my system at 1440x900 at everything max but no cloth effects.
