Centering content in HTML

First off sorry I cant show you a live example but the site isn't online yet, I hope a screen shot might help though:

It's made up of four divs, the header and logo, the menu bar, the body and the footer. If you need to see the code let me know but it's quite beefy to post all of it.
What I need to do is centre the whole thing, i tried wrapping it all in a div and using
margin-left:25%;
margin-right:25%
width:50%;
this centred it on my 22" widescreen but not on my girlfriends 19" 1280x1024

I've tried googling but nothing of over whelming use comes up!
Also in the image just ignore the watermark, I know its completly off centre.

CSS text align the wrapper?

text-align:center;
