Hi,
I'm looking to get a new web server from Fasthosts (and yes, it has to be from Fasthosts, no option there). They give the choice of 2 operating systems:
- CentOS 5
- Ubunut 6.06 LTS

I'm wondering which to go for. I know my way around Ubuntu fairly well, but the version of CentOS seems to have newer versions of software (e.g. Apache 2.2 instead of 2). See here for full details:
http://www.fasthosts.co.uk/dedicatedservers/operating-systems/

I know that I can upgrade the packages as I wish, but which OS would you go for?

Cheers,
Matt

Nope, it's Ubuntu 6.06 or CentOS 5. No other choices (well, RedHat Enterprise, but that costs extra).

I'm not sure it really matters, as Fasthosts will look after issuing new packages etc, but didn't know if there was much between the two in overheads.
