Central Locking Problem

Anyone have any ideas on what could be causing a problem I'm having with the central locking on a Citroen Xsara?

When I lock the car I hear the clunk of the lock engaging, immediately followed by the click of the car unlocking itself. It's as if one of the doors wasn't shut properly, but I've checked that and the boot (plus there's a warning light on the dash for when the kids/wife does this, and that isn't switching on).

I've tried locking the car the 'old fashioned' way, i.e. actually using the key in the lock - both driver and passenger side - but when I turn the key nothing happens at all. :(

If I'm sat in the car and I lock it from the inside, using the push-button lock on the door not using the fob, then the same thing happens as if I do it remotely, i.e. clunk-click.

This means that I can't actually lock my car at the moment. Luckily I live in a safe area off the beaten track, none of you lot know where I live..... oh and it's only a Xsara so nobody would nick it in any case (in fact they'd be doing me a favour at the moment if they did take it!).

I'm kinda stumped on how to try and fix this myself... I read somewhere that central locking uses a vacuum to lock all the doors simultaneously, so maybe there's a leak somewhere. Anyone know if this is true? I'm not keen on paying a garage to fix it as I'm part ex-ing the car in a few days for a nice shiny car (not getting a Citroen this time round).

Thanks.

Thanks for the replies, guys... much appreciated :)

The Xsara is a '01... apart from this and a starter motor that needed replacing, it's been pretty trouble-free so I can't complain too much about it really.

Time to find the WD40 and work out where the solenoids are.

Thanks again for replying :)
