Ok, so I was going to pick up a decent rear paddock stand for the 1098 however, they are coming in at £100 odd quid...

So, anyone know any decent central point paddock stands for under £50?

Only ever used the Abba stand mate, but they are £100ish :(

Wouldn't be without it though!

Hmmm, guy who does my tyres uses this, looks very good. Might invest if you can answer this though:

Can you use a front paddock stand at the same time so both wheels are off the floor?

You can on any of the stands I've seen or used. In fact, most of them required the rear to be on a stand before you could do the same with the front.

Ha, I was Google'ing the exact same question earlier today as I need to remove my front wheel this weekend.

Abba do a special front strand to be used in conjunction with the center stand, but its £60 for what is basically just an arm that supports the weight on the header pipes.

From what I was reading earlier it seems that you can just jack the front using a car/scissor jack w/ a block of wood under the sump to raise the front as it's pivoting in the middle.

Will let you know how I get on.

EDIT Or.. yes you could also use a normal front paddock stand too :)

I have the same front paddock stand. However, I have a official Ducati paddock stand for the rear on the 748, which has a smaller axel than the 1098S. Which has a 42mm axel. So the paddock stands are much more expensive :(

I think I will bike the bullet and get an abba stand though...

I recall reading somewhere that you shouldn't use a normal front paddock in conjunction with the Abba stand. Something about the pivot point etc?

Like someone already said though, Abba do a front lift that sits under the header pipes. And as also mentioned, a jack would probably do the same job there :)

It's simply to prop the bike up off the front to allow me to sping the front wheel for cleaning and check the bearings.

I had to buy a new single sided swingarm stand myself when I got the Triple (still got the Abba but that doesn't pre-load the suspension).

I bought THIS. Seems sturdy enough and arrived within a couple of days :)
