All,

I'm trying to work out a way of keeping my MP3 Library centrally (on a Windows Media centre as it is at the minute), and get the content to itunes \ Iphone remotely.

I've set up a share, and pointed Itunes to it from my laptop, but after 3 hours scanning \ doing artwork \ gapless playback, its impossible to use...far to slow.

Can you recommend a better way of doing this?

I've tried Home Share, but you cannot copy to iphone?

Thanks in advance.

If you want to store your files on the network but access them on a laptop..
  1. Move your collection to the network drive
  2. Open iTunes
  3. Go to Edit → Preferences → Advanced → General.
  4. Click Change and choose the new path to your files — e.g. F://Music
  5. Now go to "Consolidate Library"
  6. Wait
  7. Done

More info about sharing the library over the network can be found here :)

Alternatively, if you have more than one machine that wants to use the same library then you might be better off just "Sharing" the library and connecting to the shared library on the other machines to avoid access issues.
