I've got a strange situation where certain colours appear 'fizzy', like static on an old TV, except the colour is the correct one. For example the colour scheme to this entire forum works fine, however the black banner at the top of http://news.bbc.co.uk/ appears fizzy. Is this a fixable problem? Is it a case of having my laptop on too much? What should I do?

whats the make and model? It could be down to the graphics chip on its way or possibly the LCD cable or the LCD itself.

It is a Toshiba P300-156. It doesn't have the nvidia gfx card, its got an ati something or other. I have been using it to game on and stuff as well.

Also, the fizziness seems to occur with dark colours only. My sig doesn't fizz though :/ Some blacks are fine, others aren't. I'll see how it is tomorrow after a while of being off.

might be "time-dithering", where the panel rapidly switches between two colours to try and display a colour it can't natively display.

Yes i think it is what ^ you say, however it isn't doing it atm. Do you think it was just on for too long? I also momentarily connected my pc via hdmi to a mates tv, so the resolutions went all weird. Hopefully it stays goo now :)

well, sometimes a monitor connected via analogue that isn't adjusted perfectly will dither on some colours, and stop when it's properly adjusted...
