Certain Programmes just dissapear, Like for Example Msn will close as soon as I sign in. Some times it does it , some times it runs like a dream. Same with Photoshop at times, any ideas?

you using vista?
i'm having similar troubles sometimes firefox and outlook won't start. the process is there but i can't end it and there's no windows. restart and everything's fixed.

maybe just another vista bug?

Try stopping and restarting the following Vista Licencing services.

SL UI Notification Service

Software Licensing

As well as any dependencies (which should be restarted automatically).

The only thing you can blame MS for on this one is if you have Readyboost disabled this seems to happen (a lot of 3rd party Vista tweak guides say to disable various services which I followed but it totally messed Vista up) the other common fault is poor 3rd party drivers overwrite Vista system files and can cause this. Nvidia video drivers & Nero drivers are usually the main culprits. Reason I know is that I had this happen to me a lot so had a deeper look at it as not easy to find the exact cause.

Usual symptoms are as you describe and or unable to launch the control panel or various system/app folders are empty.

Other than restarting the services a more permanent fix maybe to just reinstall Vista as neither Nvidia or Nero acknowledge this as their problem even though it happens after you install some of their software!
