CES 2025 Wishlist

I think we're definitely getting to the point where burn-in shouldn't be such a fear factor, especially with all of the care features that panel providers are including now.

You see people talking regularly now about 15k + hours on an LG C2 being used as a monitor with taskbar, icons etc. with no sign of burn in. It's inevitable - but the longer it takes to happen the more it should become less of a thought when purchasing an OLED monitor.

I know LG have said they've got a more standard 'RGB' pixel layout panel coming this year, that's my wishlist item (although not likely to upgrade now at this point for a few years).
I mentioned no burn mainly as a joke but I'm planning on getting a 49" ultrawide and most of QD-OLED which I plan to use for working from home and gaming.

But it would be nice for manufactures to bring out IPS 49" ultrawide screens

I just want a bog-standard 21:9 3440x1440 OLED/QD-OLED with the updated pixel layout (though I have to say, the fringing had initially been really jarring but after a couple of days I somehow adjusted and barely notice it anymore) and higher brightness to truly leverage the highlight potential of HDR when run on screens with such insane contrast. I don't need framerates above 175hz TBH.

Or better still, a MiniLed (or Microled, one can dream, yeah) with a ****load of dimming zones and I'm sold. Until either happens, I'm on the Evnia 6500 I've recently grabbed for 440quid and at that price I don't even care about burn-in, even though I'm in EU so I'm covered by their 3-year burn-in warranty. Have taken some usual precautions like auto-hide taskbar/hidden icons/ and I don't leave static images on unnecessarily but other than that I just use it like I used my VA.

My C2 still doesn't show any signs of burn-in after two years of gaming on it without bothering about static HUDs etc.

Will be interesting to see what if anything happens with the cable situation, a limit of short cables for full DP80 is a little off putting

This is the god-tier endgame monitor panel/size/tech for the forseeable future as far as I'm concerned! Barriing any issues I'll be grabbing a 27" 4K OLED of some variety when they release this year to replace my 34" (3440x1440) Ultrawide!

Good to see that there will be a variety of monitor to choose from using the same panel/tech as I was worried that it might just end up as something only Asus offered.

so 27" 4k oled to fix the sub pixel issues / text fringing with the good pixel density
desktop apps / browsing / play singleplayer games at nice 4k 60hz
change res to 1080p for online shooter stuff? and it would scale ok? and get high hz

would that work or stupid (#ifitsstupidanditworksitsnotstupid ?)

Would work but you'd almost be better off running DLSS Performance which renders the game at 1080p anyway and upscales to 4k. So you'd be getting 4k visuals from 1080p rendering.

I wish these new ones had native dual modes to increase from 240hz to 480hz going from 4k to 1080p, that'll be the ones I'm looking for at 27". I like this 32" one a lot, it's fantastic for working on and single player games at 32" are honestly great - but it does feel a tad too big playing online shooter games at 32".

I'd presume all the usual suspects (Samsung, LG, etc) with 32" 4K OLED panels will also bring out 27" variants in the near future as well?
Samsung has 27" new monitors coming out. The G8 I think.

Still feel like my 38" 3840x1600 is perfect in terms of both absolute size and useable screen real estate. The only mark against it is not being able to show 4k/UHD content natively but as a desktop monitor for work and games it's fantastic. I'd probably have to go to a 42" C4 or similar to get UHD content with 100% scaling - I just wish they could push the refresh rate a little higher than 120hz.

I don't get this obsession with 4K 27". Feels far too small for that resolution to me. 32" minimum.
