CF useage in Last Light?

:D

Just had a test, i7 3820, HT enabled at 4.75ghz, CF 7970's @ 1010/1375...

Usage both in game and in bench with settings as high as possible (also tried with dumbed down settings, 2xSSAA & medium tess) was averaging 70-80%, it occasionally peaked to 95+% but for the most part was sat around 80%.

Going to fill in a report for this with AMD, a game as demanding as MLL should be using as much GPU resource as possible at all times, especially as fully maxed out @ 1080 only yielded ~40fps.

TL;DR: Its not your cpu its the driver and/or game engine.

Thanks very much for this. You have just saved me £400! I can now scrap my idea of needing an i7!

Ahhhh!

I have two choices.

Sell I5 now and get I7, then get 2nd HD7950 later on
or
Keep i5 and get 2nd HD7950.

What are GPU usage like in other games?

So far other game running fine, but I have to run both cards at 800/1250 and my Cpu is at 4.5ghz if I touch the cards any higher performance gets worst.

That's it. Decision made. Going to sell old motherboard and i5 and get a Sandy i7 add I currently run my card at 1100/1350. Thanks

Bad choice.

I have the best pair of 7950s on the Heaven and Valley threads and they are not held back by my i5 (1300/1730).

As I understand it BF3 is the only game where an i7 makes any difference.

Get the second 7950, you will see a much bigger improvement over getting an i7. You can always get the i7 later if you still want it.

^yep.

Frostbite is an exception as it can utilise many threads, you're lucky if most other engines will even utilise 4 threads, most rely on raw cpu power.

That is unless you play nothing but frostbite titles, then it's justified imo.

Running both cards at stock just to get smooth gameplay in games is a bit pointless to me.
And BF4 is one of the main reasons I sold my Xbox and upgraded my system.
