So I'm currently with an AltNet and I believe they have always used CGNAT and for the most part I've not had any real issue with it (I didn't like it but it hadn't seemed to cause me any real issues).
Then around the middle of the week I noticed that Steam is now losing connection, probably multiple times a minute, and Twitch chat also constantly reconnects.
After getting some help from AI to do some troubleshooting I'm led to believe that the issues might be down to CGNAT. If I use a VPN the issue go away, but using a VPN reduces my speed and bypasses my PiHole setup so it's not something I want to have to use that much.
I don't know why it suddenly started happening a few days ago, does anyone know why this might be, might they have changed a setting their end?
My speeds seem fine based on speedtests and things like Youtube, Twitch, Netflix, etc. don't seem any worse.
I've tried enabling IPv6 on my router as I'd heard that's not subject to CGNAT, but that doesn't seem to have made any difference.
Is there anything I can do my end? Am I going to have to contact my ISP? I'm worried they'll say this is just the way it is now unless I spend even more money paying for a static IP. Would a static IP solve this, I assume it would mean I'm not behind CGNAT?
Finally, could I be blaming CGNAT when it's actually something else? Is there any way to tell?
