Is it just me or is this the most annoying internet fad to date? I can't read a page of comments these days without "copy and paste this or your cat will explode in 10 minutes".

Anyone actually do those things?

Heh, I remember in the IRC days when some newbie wanted to kick some other newbie, they where told to (enter disconnect command that I don't remember here) only to kick themselves out

I did something similar about 5 or 6 years ago(i was 11 or 12) got one of the chain emails saying post this to 20 people and press ALT +F4 and you will see Britney Spears dancing naked,obviously I did it and nothing appeared

Tell me about it, most annoying thing evah!! If you ask me they should make some kind of bot that searches for the common chain messages and permabans the people who do it. So not cool!!

If I see any I just click the button to mark it as spam and move on. No idea if they do anything abut it, but it only takes 2 seconds.
