I have a Stihl 085 chainsaw that appears to be in good condition. However i have no idea what oil or fuel it needs and where to put it!
Does anyone have any experience of these at all?
It appears to have 3 fill ports/plastic caps, and only one is labelled as fuel.
I would hazard a guess that it needs a 2 stroke mix but not sure.
Trying to find any sort of manual on line has been fruitless and so i am stuck:mad:

One of the fill ports will be for the oil that lubricates the chain also.

On my Dad's chainsaw (not the same as yours) you mix the two-stroke oil with unleaded petrol in a little plastic bottle, then pour it into the fuel port. No idea what the third fill port would be for.

I've always found that unless you're in a big rush a knife always leaves less evidence on the scene anyway, maybe try that instead?

OP question sounds like he doesn't know what he's doing. If this is the case, then perhaps using a chainsaw isn't a wise idea. They are literally lethal if not used correctly.

Or perhaps he wants to NOT damage the chainsaw? What does not knowing what fuel it requires have in common with safe operation of a chainsaw?

Someone might put petrol in a diesel car, that doesn't automatically make them a bad driver. An idiot, sure, but not a bad driver.

This, and remember "do not attempt to stop chain with hands or genitals".

Alright, who called the internet police.

Until you know what fuel/oil to use I think you should fashion your own chainsaw.

You will need:

Saws.
Chain.

Chain said saws together and swing wildley and aggresively at intended object. Post pictures.

Actually i have no intention of actually using it. I need to give it a good clean and then sell it.
Engine turns over fine and condition looks pretty good but want to make sure it runs ok.
