Wonder if any of you guys can help me. My lever has snapped on my reclining arm chair, here is what the lever look like

I still have a bit of a handle left, but now that most of the leverage is gone, its real stiff to turn back and forward. I was thinking about screwing it back on some how, but the wooden lever has a metal rod running though the middle, so that wont work... So then have thought about gluing it back on with wood glue, then wrapping something around it that dries real hard, to take the strain of the lever being moved back and forward.... But does anything like that exists? A bit like the plaster stuff you use on a plaster cast for a broken person's leg or arm

Here's pics of the broken lever and you can see the metal running through it... I had another idea drilling holes either side of the metal and hammering thin strong rods in to take the strain of the lever, but the wood is prob too thin either side of the metal.

Thanks guys, found and ordered a new lever on ebay. I had some trouble unscrewing the set screw in the lever to remove it, The screw was so tight it bent the allen key and was lucky that it was a strong screw, because with cheap screws the heads fail if you apply a lot of turning force.
