I have spent between £45 and £200 on chairs for my daily pc activities ( i have fibromyalgia ) and spend a lot of time at my pc.

The chair i currently have was bought for me on fathers day, a pu leather chair for £130 and at first as always all seemed better, previous chair i got near xmas had started giving my bruises on my butt.
This chair had now done what i call gone flat, the cushioning on the seat to me now seems to be on the wood/plastic/metal what ever it may be.

I am sick and tired of constantly paying out for chairs that dont last, i tried a Noble chairs when they first released and the build quality was shabby at best, and i see a lot of reports are still the same.

I had a DX racer and sold it to a friend as i found it had little support on the seat and was hard, the friend reports the same after sitting in it for more than an hour at a time.

Why is it so difficult to find a comfy chair that can last a year or two minimum

don't look at "gaming" chairs they are rock hard

best chair i ever had was an executive chair from the big office supply shop, the seat had like 5 inches of foam on it, it was lovely and could sit on it all day

get a Steelcase/Humanscale/Herman Miller etc refurb. They oose quality and the materials are chosen to be used in a workplace.

Steelcase Leap or Please? A good recon can be had for <£200.

Yeah I got my Leap over 2 years ago now for £130 refurbished, it's excellent even the filler under my butt isn't that flat yet and I believe you can redo the padding yourself.

I'm yet to find a PC chair that doesn't start degrading after a few months :( been through many of the brands like Arozzi and DXRacer as well as a selection of office chair brands from generic ones through to some of the more premium ones. Not tried a Herman Miller yet mind.

Car seat fitted onto a base from another office chair. Dirt cheap, comfortable and incredibly long lasting. Mine is now 22 years old, having done 170k miles in the car and been an office chair for the last 7 years. Has recline, gas lift, tilt and lumbar support. I used a velour seat as leather wouldn't last as well. Total cost was a few nuts and bolts and a small off-cut of 18mm plywood.

...because you are not looking beyond a certain style, range or price bracket?

Have a good read of some of the other threads in this forum and you'll find the answers you seek.

I did try a leather Noble chair at over £400 but it was not very well made and had many flaws in both the replacement and initial one i purchased. But still a `gaming` variant.
I only had it for a few days, and wouldn't buy another.
I have found somewhere that sells second hand Herman Miller Mirra with a years warranty for what seems a good price.
The seat portion looks very different to what ive had before and almost looks like it has no padding, are these really that comfy lol

The Mirra is but one chair/design, go look at the entire category from a variety of manufacturers.

Herman Miller, Steelcase & Ergohuman are a good place to start and they have many product lines:

If you want something that is going to last you a long long time I'd suggest a chair that can be refurbished since the cushioning on all chairs will degrade over time, but the frame and mechanics of a decent chair should last 20yrs or more.

Took my 3 month old chair back to the shop today and they agreed straight away that the wear on the seat padding should have lasted way longer and gave me a refund instantly.

So going to put this towards a Mirra i think and see how i get on, there is a possibility we are off to try the seats out in a reasonably local shop.
