I'm thinking of getting a new chair. I've tried various leather chairs but I just don't think they cut it. The backs on most of these are positioned too far back so when I'm in an upright position I might as well just be sitting on a stool. Therefore I think I'm going to get a mesh chair which has a synchronous mechanism so, when it reclines, the back moves twice as far as the seat.

I've narrowed it down to these 3:
Ergo Mesh - £150
- Adjustable lumbar support
- Height adjustable arms
- Adjustable headrest (I think)
- Synchro mechanism


Fulkrum - £240
- Adjustable lumbar support
- 2-way adjustable arms
- Adjustable headrest
- Leather seat
- Synchro mechanism
- Knee tilt mechanism


Fulkrum 2 - £270
- Adjustable lumbar support
- 4-way adjustable arms
- Adjustable headrest
- Leather seat
- Synchro mechanism
- Knee tilt mechanism
- Chrome base


I'd rather not spend £270 on just a chair, but I suppose I could stretch that far. What do you guys think of this selection?

Oh, I hadn't thought the Fulkrum chairs might be more suitable to larger people. Interesting.

Thank you very much for your recommendation. Chances are that's the one I'll go for as it's a lot cheaper, although I still find the leather seat and knee tilt mechanism appealing on the Fulkrums though. Have you tried any mesh chairs?
 
I don't suppose you can remember any specifics about the ones you've tried--or perhaps own--do you? I can't decide whether it's worth paying all that extra money for the knee-tilt mechanism (yes, there's other stuff, but that's the main thing) when the synchro mechanism will probably be just fine on its own.

Yeah, those Aeron's do look very nice, but I can't justify spending that much when you can get very similar chairs, albeit from lesser-known brands, for half the price. I wonder how different an Aeron would be to sit in to, say, the Ergo Mesh chair in my original post.

Eck! Those look strange. I think I'll stick to a conventional type of office chair, thank you very much! :p

Hmm, I still don't know which one to get. Can anyone verify that the headrest on the Ergo Mesh chair (the cheapest out of the 3) is actually adjustable please? I know it's removable, I just don't know if it's adjustable or not.

I really appreciate you help, guys. But still, as before, any more input would be great.
 
Yeah, that is a very nice chair, Cr0fty. I tried that at a local office supply store but, although being very comfortable, I'm not too fond of the colour. Plus it doesn't have the adjustability these mesh ones seem to offer.

Originally I was dead set on getting a nice leather, executive chair. But after trying a lot of them, the majority weren't upright enough to provide any support when I'm working. Although, I remember that one you referenced, Cr0fty, being the most upright leather chair I'd tried which does make it very appealing to me. However it lacks a headrest and adjustable lumbar support, not to mention the colour!

I'm using a 22" monitor, stevenazari1. In fact, here's my setup to give you a better idea:







Paras, I'd love one of those chairs, but they don't come cheap. Plus I don't think I'd want to get a second hand one, either. I think £270 is the absolute limit of my budget.
