Chalk another one up on the list...

Let us not forget the Xbox360 has been out over 2 years here, the PS3 hasn't even had 12 months, so it was bound to happen, the only surprise is people going for an inferior games machine now. As you say, Blu-Ray has had a massive impact even though it's still getting battered by DVD sales.

Seems a lot of people are starting to overlook the Xbox360 now, not entirely sure why, but if this forum is any indication I'd expect the PS3 to be pulling away.

I have a pretty decent PC, it seems to me nearly all of the decent xbox 360 exclusive games gradually appear on the pc at some point (read: Bioshock, Gears of War, Mass Effect etc). It is much less common to see a Playstation exclusive game come out on the PC, so in my eyes the PS3 is probably the better console to compliment someones game collection if they already have a decent PC. The xbox 360 is fantastic, and i did consider getting one until i realized about half of the games i was interested in were out on the pc and another quarter were out on the PS3.

Also i've always owned playstations since i was little - i've had 1 PS1 fail on me and Sony repaired that for £20 despite being out of warranty and my launch PS2 is still going strong, product reliability like that has gained my trust.

Oh yeah I'm not dismissing the great two years Xbox has offered, just like all good things they come to an end. Blu-ray will get trounced by dvd for atleast another 3-5 years. The people who actually still pay for dvd's over the counter aren't going to change format. The types of people that use this forum likely haven't paid for a dvd in 3 years apart from their must have all time favourites.

I want a Blu ray player but have zero intention of buying anything other than my top 3 box sets. The rest I will rent.

I'm yet to still own a game for the PS3, nothing has really caught my attention. I only play COD4 and FIFA08 right now and both I could have bought on the PS3. Unfortunately none of my friends own a PS nor would I be able to participate in online leagues etc on here.

I still love my 360 and even though I've just got the ps3, I still find the controller for the 360 superior and find hours gone still playing on oblivion :)

Mainly got the PS3 for bluray, much like everyone else, but for the style of games can't really fault the 360. Thats just my opinion though :)

I wanted to move away from PC gaming so a 360 was the only logical choice. The PC/360 games Mass Effect and Bioshock are just too good to miss. I can fully understand someone with a good PC getting a PS3 to compliment it though.

I really can't understand Microsoft's business strategy atm....

I also think that the PS3 having wireless+hd dvd of some sort has thrown the balance in their favour. I know it's an old argument (i have both), but parents would like to spend the least they can, look at rrp's for wireless conrollers, wireless networking etc to make the 360 catch up wit the PS3 and all of a sudden the PS3 looks the better option. The free multiplayer / access might be the straw thta brekas the camels back for Sony.

I do still love my 360 and umless it decides to go south on me, I will be keeping it as there are some cracking games and stuff on it. I will not, however be paying nearly 40 notes to keep my Live account ( even if the interface is slick)

They are having to lure people in on two fronts. The xbox exclusives should have stayed only on the 360 to draw punters in. Yet they need them on windows vista, trying to tell people they need a new OS to play this latest windows for games crud.

All it's done is made PC gamers not buy a 360 due to the games eventually coming to windows anyway. So PS3 owners with a pc didnt need to jump ship to play the xbox exclusives.

As you say strange strategy.

Its a lot easier now its been patched, if you play on the official ones they have SCEE in front they are all dedicated servers (some non Sony ones are also) see http://blog.us.playstation.com/2007/08/08/behind-the-curtain-the-warhawk-servers/
for more detail. Warhawk is great i've played Battlefield for years from 1 to 2142 and it was never as much fun as this game, its very well balanced and if your are on foot, vehicles, turrets or aircraft you never feel disadvantaged if you know what you are doing.

Agreed. Warhawk is a great game. I play it with friends and family all the time.

I totally understand it, release a game on the 360, everyone rushes out and buys it, 6 months later release a souped up version on PC - again everyone will rush out and buy it because they enjoyed it on the 360 and want the extra content.

Same thing happened with Gears of War - all the DLC they promised for Gears of War, what happened to it? they stuck it in the PC version to get even more sales - never to appear on the 360.

It's the same in the movie business, release a DVD, then 6 months later release a Directors Cut Super Special Limited Edition etc.

Can't say I blame them, they are a business at the end of the day.

What DLC did the PC get in the end? Two map packs were released for GOW on the 360.

An entire five extra chapters between Marcus' house and the train with a brumark chasing you through a city - apparently they couldn't finish that in time for the 360 release so they just didn't put it in.

Whilst that is true, in 12 months we've seen what I would class as one good, solid exclusive game. I've said on here several times that I think MGS4 will be massively underwhelming, Gran Turimo 5 will be great, FFXIII will be another not as good as VII and VIII, LBP looks boring, HOME is interesting and that the only AAA exclusive that gets me REALLY excited is God of War 3 because that will be awesome.

Though I hope to be proved wrong, past efforts from those game series lead me to believe it's more of the same with efforts four, five and thirteen from those games.

A lot of Xbox360 games do go PC though, but Xbox360 still has Dead Rising and Project Gotham Racing and those are 2 of my favourites ever. It has others, but Dead Rising and PGR are absolutely stellar.

Dead rising is actually the one game that had me umming and ahhing over, i'm not a huge racing game fan and considering two of the biggest 360 still-exclusives are project gotham and forza 2 thats quite a big downfall to the game lineup in my eyes.

I'm not the type of person who will ever own both consoles, i just can't justify the cost in both monetary and time. Having owned a playstation 2 i have a pretty strong need to see how the metal gear and god of war series pan out - the cliffhangers are just too tasty. I'm a HUGE final fantasy fan, despite their slightly weaker recent games, so that's a big seller for me. I really like the look of LBP, looks like just my sort of thing - a nice quick, cute, funny game that's just that little bit different.

Oh and i also really wanted a blu-ray player (honest, i actually want to buy my films)

People keep pushing these big PS3 exclusives, but it's stuff like Resistance 2, Motorstorm 2 and some nice original games would be nice. After being so let down by MGS2 I refuse to get excited about it, especially as there are better action games and better stealth games :(.

I can imagine a lot of people 'switching' to the PS3 when achievments become available on Home. I figure a lot of people love them that much.

too many xbox360 exclusive that i play are going to PC with better updates and better looking, and PGR series i don't know what they are going to do now that Bizarre Creations has parted ways although primary a xbox franchise who knows what will happen,

LBP looks ace!

Microsoft are making the new PGRs (or at least drafting someone in to do it) and Bizarre Creations are working on a new one altogether.
