Having an argument with a friend at the moment, he reckons that no way would an absolutely top of the range PC cost more than a decent 2nd hand car.

Currently, in your opinion, what is the top spec you can have for a PC, no cash limit.

No more than dual screens, allowed.

Create a System spec - case, mobo, CPU, mem, gfx, sound, HDD, PSU, CD etc.

Best monitor/s - nothing stupidly big but something to make people go wow.

Keyboard/mouse/joystick/speakers/mouse mat.

Anything else :D

Trust me when I tell you it'll reach about £6K, and that's being fairly sensible.

Edit - I don't even know why I bothered doing this...

If funds were unlimited that's a very modest machine seeing as I could have chosen two 30 inch monitors, a matching tower full of SCSI drives, high-end soundcard, water cooling etc...

oh, i know that but he wants me to send him so price lists/component lists as proof :D

I only bother with whats the latest GFX card, CPU etc when im building myself a rig which i did last year so im out of the loop already!

swap out the p5n-e for a striker extreme as it cant run 16x in SLI mode.

needs more ram maslac !

how about raptors for the boot / programs RAID ?

Love the monitors I have them myself.

i told him that a geeky keyboard (the Optimus-103 keyboard) has a sales tag of $1200 :D

Meh, may as well. At leas this one is to prove a point... easy to spend way over the cost of a 'decent' second hand car. (depends what you call decent I suppose)
