Hi all - as title really. Our windows have a fair amount of condensation on them in the mornings, and we wipe them over currently with an old chamois leather which is now starting to fall apart and needs replacing.

What is going to be better for drying the windows and frames etc - a couple of microfibre towels or another chamois leather? At the moment there's no cheap way to address the condensation, so need a method of drying them instead of preventing the condensation. I don't think the window vac things withh work either as the condensation is also on the sills and frames etc

TIA :)

Window vac is a total overkill purchase unless the OP already owned one. Window squeegee (the thing you use when cleaning windows as a pro £2) with a tea towel/cloth at bottom of the window or on the sill to catch the water, wring out cloth re-use on next window then dry with your chamois or micro fibre cloth.

just get a large prewashed unger window cleaners scrim and a large unger microwipe

i was in a crew of window cleaners years back and we used to carry those two

the scrim gets most of the water off and the microwipe just polishes it off nice

both work best when broken in, we used to use brand new ones on filthy sills and keep washing them over and over.
after a while they actually work better and then start using them on glass.

Not for windows, but whats best to use in a shower/cubicle? Moving in to new place and it's brand new so want to keep it that way
We use a Bosch window vac, that in combination with a water softener means we don't have any limescale marks on our glass after having the shower over a year.

Squeegee and microfibre cloth for our shower, works a treat and no marks on it. Barely needs cleaning every 2 weeks and looks great still. We do have a water softener though as we live in a hard water area and that helps keep it in good shape.

I've had a Karcher window vac for years. It's used throughout the year for cleaning the windows but also for taking the condensation off. Great tool for the house IMO.

If you don't have one then a squeegee and an absorbent towel like microfibre cloth is a good alternative. Just make sure you're not drying the microfibre cloth on the radiator in the same room or the moisture will just come back!
