Guys,

Can anyone recommend a good place to get case deals on Champagne? Costco want £165 for a case of Veuve, which isn't bad but I am sure I can do better. Tesco had an offer on for £145 a case but this has ended now.

Any suggestions welcome :)

Budget?

Berry Brothers & Rudd have a £50 off voucher when you spend £250 onine, I've just taken full advantage of that and bought a few bottles of wine.

I guess I am specifically after Veuve unless there is a cracking deal on something else that I like. that £50 off voucher might make them competitive as I am likely to be ordering two cases - I will check it out.

I ended up getting this lot:

Costco were out of stock of the cases of Veuve but the magnum was £60 and the Bollinger was £28.xx after the VAT, so picked up a 2004 bottle of Chateauneuf-du-Pape which brought the price up to about the same as the case of Veuve would have been. IMO the Bollinger is an inferior champagne but once the magnum of it has gone I suspect I won't much care in any case!

Is Chateauneuf du pape really *that* good? I thought that its price has been artificially increased due to the idea that it is really great.

You could surely get much better with your money, with a little shopping about, no?

That particular bottle is pretty good. I've had a number of wines at around this price range (£20ish) and this is one of my favourites. I would probably have picked up a Chablis at the same sort of price but as you can see, I already have quite a lot of white wine to be getting on with. I've had a nice bottle of Beaujolais recently and I might have gone for another of those but... meh.

As a go-to bottle of red, this is extremely enjoyable :)
