Chances of HMV or Game breaking on SCDA?

Im at work, I have the day off tomorrow and I'm thinking of popping down to Game or HMV pick up Splinter Cell today.

However I know how stubborn big name retailers can be on breaking early (selling before the release day) anybody had any luck with the above name shops?

I would really rather be playing it tonight than driving down to somewhere tomorrow morning.

Anyway, any idea?

You might want to edit the competitor (the pc shop) out, they're not allowed to be mentioned here.

Edit: Oh, and you have zero chance of any of the big shops breaking the release date. You'd be better off seeing if there are any small independant shops as they *may* break the date.
 
Or maybe a supermarket, try asking some old biddy working there for the game by name, say you cant see any of the shelf and you wondered if they had any more stock behind the counter. Hopefully they wont twig on.
 
My small local shop will always sell me games when they come in early, they're nice like that, it's very rare for this to happen at game etc. Having said that however when I asked the chap at game about saints row (2 days before release but in the cabinet behind him) he replied "err, yes it's not out 'til friday" and gave me a shifty sideways look, either he was implying he'd sell it to me 2 days before launch, or he wanted me. Either way I thought it best to leave.
 
Find a small independant (or importer) and they usually are willing to bend the rules, GAME can't because of how it registers through the till (unless you tip the guy and he'll ring it in the next day).

But the difference is, customer base means nothing to the big stores so they don't NEED to sell you it a day earlier.
 
After midnight is fine at supermarktes, done it with Half-Life 2 - even got Just Cause at 10pm they was putting them on the shelves
